This historical journey exploring the humble summer holiday will encourage pupils to compare the different ways our holiday's have changed and why.

A multi period discovery of how holidaying has altered from the Victorian period through to the 1950s. How did holiday makers travel - Modes of transport, Where did they go - location and destinations, Where did they stay - Accommodation from canvas to cruise, How were they entertained - The End of The Pier Show.

A day of fun exploring the changing face of the British summer holiday.


National Curriculum

KS1 History

  • Events beyond living memory that are significant nationally or globally.
  • Understand historical concepts such as continuity and change.
  • KS2 History

  • A study of an aspect or theme in British History that extends pupils chronological knowledge beyond 1066.
  • A local history study.
  • KS1 Geography

  • Use world maps, atlas's and globes to identify the UK and it's counties as well as the countries, continents and oceans studied at this key stage.
  • KS1 English (Statutory Requirements)

  • Listen and respond appropriately to adults and their peers.
